Now that the big event is over, ask these two questions:

1. What went right?

Start off with identifying the “bright spots” of the event or things you want to duplicate next time. Once you’ve identified these areas, take note to keep those “bright spots” glowing for the next year.

2. What needs to be improved?

Next, ask the tough question “What needs to be improved?” Were there areas that need to be overhauled or maybe outright removed? Take note of those areas and come up with a plan to improve or remove them as needed.

Bonus: Don’t just ask yourself these questions, get your team involved! Whether it’s through a survey or meeting, you are always going to get better feedback when asking these questions to those who were in the “trenches”.
